New research project funded by the SNF on Multimodal Clinical Data AI-based Integration for Clinical Research Eligibility Surveillance
The new research project for “Multimodal Clinical Data AI-based Integration for Clinical Research Eligibility Surveillance” has been selected for funding by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) for a period of 4 years (more details at https://data.snf.ch/grants/grant/228186).
Most clinical trials fail for lack of patients, and a small percentage of patients participate in clinical research when most would be interested. Many could benefit, but the existence of clinical trials in which they could participate is often ignored. This project uses artificial intelligence algorithms to extract features from clinical trials and patient records, compare them, and identify patients who might participate in these clinical trials.
The project is being led by the Institute of Digital Technologies for Personalized Health Care (MeDiTech) of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) and involves close collaboration with the Clinical Trial Unit (CTU), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Cardiocentro Ticino Institute, and the Oncological Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI) at the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC).
